Christopher is interested in learning about the radiation in the environment around us and what effects it has on us. He wants to know more about the effects of nuclear power plant accidents in terms of the radiation doses in our foods and environment. He is currently working in the alpha group on the extraction of naturally occurring Polonium-210. The alpha group is extracting Po-210 and measuring it as an effective dose.He is also working on detecting Strontium-90 (Sr-90) in contaminated soil samples using a CZT detector. A model is being developed using MEGALIB in order to quantify detector sensitivity.
